Two of my children have gone to this school one is still there. I have found that the teachers are friendly and kind. I'm sorry to those who think Mrs Ovenden was a bad headmistress as I myself have found her nothing but supportive and kind especially in times when you really need the support. Mrs Stagg is also the same, hopefully it continues the same. I think with teachers it can be subjective kids get on with some an not with others. I think consistent staffing is needed and a little more academic themes for the kids to study. I get you can't teach them Shakespeare, but a little less ethical festivals an tailoring towards more traditional themes would be good!!

My eldest daughter has attended this school from reception and I have been impressed by the dedication of the both the staff and governors. Music and sports provision with specialist teachers for a small primary is particularly good along with support for a range of abilities both those needing more basic support and those who need to be stretched. Only quibble is clarity and timeliness of communication; the school has both a mobile app and regular SMS updates in addition to a weekly newsletter however not always consistent and allowing sufficient time for working parents to plan. In general a welcoming and supportive environment for children, parents and staff.

I really think that this school does not live up to it's full potential. My brother who is disabled was due for help when teachers were teaching but this school failed to assist in helping him. This caused him to fail in year 7-9. Due to help from his secondary school he was able to change and get higher grades. I believe if ABS had the right mentors for him he could have gained higher grades. This school is Shambolic. Mrs Ovenden should get the sack because she is just poor and Ofsted believe the school is "outstanding" but it is shambolic, just look at the boys toilet where tissues are thrown on the ceiling and they fall on innocent kids.
